The Diploma in Forensic Linguistics corresponds to Level 6 in the UK National Qualifications Framework, which is the equivalent of an Honours Degree (BA or BSc).

For graduate students in Linguistics and allied disciplines. Builds on and incorporates the Certificate in Forensic Linguistics and adds the following modules: authorship, cell/mobile phone text authorship, forensic transcription, case analysis of two major criminal cases and an independent research project.

Advanced Diploma Course in Forensic Linguistics

The Certificate introduces you to Forensic Linguistics: you learn about the main areas of the subject and basic ways of analysing text. The Advanced Certificate takes you somewhat further. You look at reports and are introduced to the role of the forensic linguist. The Diploma represents a considerable step up from your previous work. For the Diploma you look at cases involving forensic linguistic expertise and learn to comment on linguistic evidence. You also undertake an original piece of research on any topic within forensic linguistics. Previous mini-dissertations have been as long as 10,000 words with over 100 bibliographic references.

The Advanced Diploma in Forensic Linguistics takes you to another level: you will learn how to write reports for a court. This will involve studying the forensic linguistic evidence in detail, understanding what is important and what is not, and how to present your conclusions. You will also learn some aspects of the law in relation to expert evidence. Places on the Advanced Diploma are limited.
