Hate mail cases are not always what they seem. What we appear to have here is someone maligning or denouncing a female employee. However comparison with the writings of a group of possible suspects, including the apparent victim, showed that the woman had written the letters herself. This seemed to be in order to be able to claim that she had suffered stress as a result of the hate mail, and thereby possibly retire on medical grounds.
