Forensic Linguistics Tour
Forensic Linguists, like all forensic scientists, are commissioned by both prosecution and defence. One area of concern - mostly from historic cases - is that of "verballing", the practice of fabricating what a suspect said.
Here the judge at the WA Royal Commission summarizes the techniques used to make the 'verbal' more plausible (L5 is the pseudonym given by the judge to a police officer witness). The Intelligence has worked on a number of cases of verballing in the past, and continues to do so.
