In the excerpt below from an alleged suicide note the writer apparently requests not to be resuscitated.
However the note was only found much later in a different location completely detached from the scene where the death took place.
This type of example demonstrates the importance of context: the forensic linguist needs to take into account the possibility of a relationship between the suicide-related note and context. It also needs to be borne in mind that not all suicide-related notes are suicide notes.
